Known as the “Picasso of India”, Maqbool Fida Husain is one of India’s most revered modern artists who redefined Indian art with his bold and evocative works. Born into humble beginnings in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, Husain’s early struggles and unique life experiences shaped his visionary approach to art. From painting cinema hoardings in Mumbai to becoming a globally recognized figure, his journey is a testament to resilience and creativity.
Interweaving religious and symbolic iconography with historic figures in his powerful depictions of Indian civilisation and deities, Husain revolutionized the Indian art scene and captured the essence of Indian identity in ways no one had before! As one of India’s most saleable artists of the 20th century, Husain put modern Indian art on a global plane but isn’t it a cruel irony then that Husain was forced to flee India in his later years?! Join in to find out why.
The workshop will include:
- An engaging lecture on MF Husain’s early life, artistic journey, and the evolution of his iconic style.
- A deep exploration into his contributions to modern Indian art, particularly his fusion of traditional techniques with contemporary themes and social commentary.
- A hands-on painting session inspired by Husain’s unique approach, where you will explore dynamic brushstrokes (freehand drawings and Cubism inspired paintings), vivid colors, and expressive storytelling.
Additionally, your ticket to the session will include:
- Exclusive printed materials and handouts on Husain’s legacy and technique.
- A personalized memento, celebrating your artistic experience.
- Refreshing theme-based snacks and drinks to enjoy while you create.
All materials for the workshop is included in the ticket and will be provided to you.
